# RAIL Token Overview

RAIL is the RAILGUN Protocol's security token. Holding RAIL is not necessary to use the privacy system nor does holding RAIL provide privacy. 

RAIL is a standard ERC-20 token deployed to Ethereum. RAIL liquidity can be found on Sushiswap and Uniswap, with aggregated routing available through [Matcha.](https://matcha.xyz/)​

RAILGUN on Polygon and BSC have their own independent governance systems & tokens which are separate from the system on Ethereum. 

RAILGUN on Arbitrum is secured by staked RAIL on Ethereum.
